“We’re just a steel warehouse in a cow pasture.” – Rev. Ron Davidson
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ (Matthew 25:40)
Where can you find a 10,000% return on investment?
On Wednesday January 30, David Bean and I drove with Rev. Sam Reeves to meet with Rev. Ron Davidson at the Gleaning for the World (GFTW) headquarters in Concord Virginia (near Lynchburg). During our drive to …

“I have always found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict justice.” – Abraham Lincoln
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 10:25)
What must I do to inherit eternal life?
As mentioned in yesterday’s devotional, God worked out the circumstances such that I listened to Pastor Randy Orndorff’s sermon about the Good Samaritan three different times on my 7th spiritual birthday (Sunday Jan 6). It became very clear to me that God wants to drill home the message …

Faith makes things possible, not easy.
But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” (Luke 10:29)
Who is my neighbor? How should I respond?
Yesterday I attended all three morning worship services at the Culpeper United Methodist Church. Pastor Randy Orndorff allowed David Bean and me to support Sam Reeves and Operation Rescue Liberia during each service by sharing short testimonies of how God moved in our lives to get us involved. The Holy Spirit moved in power to inspire other people to get involved.
Around 7 AM …

Knowledge of God leads to trust in God.
Trust in God leads obedience to God.
Obedience to God leads to blessings by God.
But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29)
Why don’t people obey God?
For several years, I used to listen to American Family Radio (AFR) several hours each day when I was home. One of my favorite preachers on AFR was Adrian Rogers. AFR frequently aired this brief but powerful message by Adrian Rogers – “Why don’t people obey God? Because …

“Christianity must evoke from the believer the same response it drew from the first disciples: a passionate desire to obey God – a willingly entered-into discipline. That is the beginning of true discipleship. That is the beginning of loving God”
“Now the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will personally RESTORE, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little. To Him be the dominion forever. Amen. (1 Peter 5:10-11)

What simple thing can you do to offer hope to hopeless people this Christmas?
Yesterday morning I went to the monthly Culpeper Ministerial Association meeting held at Culpeper Hospital. Despite having a very full schedule, I chose to go primarily to honor Pastor Randy Orndorff for his two years of outstanding service as President of the Culpeper Ministerial …

Consider others better than yourself!
“She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.” (Proverbs 31:20)
During the past several years, it has been my habit to read a chapter a day from Proverbs on most mornings. Often when I came to Proverbs 31, I would turn that chapter into a prayer – praying and believing my wife (Julia) would be a Proverbs 31 wife.
As I reflect on this past year, I am so humbled by God’s amazing grace and his tender mercies. For more …

At our weekly Pray Culpeper meeting on November 13, one of our prayer warriors shared that she didn’t know how to pray for the persecuted church. We then proceeded to pray this beautiful prayer below that I had copied from the website at www.idop.org. Please join our team in praying this prayer of agreement.
‘I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my …

Biblical unity first begins with our own communion with God and then emanates outward from the marriage.
“that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” (John 17:21)
Shortly before going to the cross, Jesus prayed for unity (John 17:21). Unity glorifies God, while disunity pushes people away from God.
